Free Play Consoles

We will have some video game consoles for everyone to check out and play.

We have some retro dedicated consoles. The type designed to look like an old console and filled with preloaded games.

NES Mini with 30 built in games such as Super Mario World, Metroid, Mega Man 2, Galaga, Dr. Mario, Castlevania, Excitebike

Sega Genesis Mini II 53 games such as Earthworm Jim 2, Fatal Fury 2, Golden Axe 2, Sonic CD, Ecco Dolphin, Final Fight CD

Playstation Classic 20 built in games such as Metal Gear Solid, Oddworld, Rayman, Resident Evil, Twisted Metal, Tekken 3

Atari Flashback 9 110 games such as Asteroids, Burger Time, Centipede, Frogger, Haunted House, Missile Command, Pitfight

Colecovision Flashback 61 built in games such as Cosmic Avenger, Frenzy, Jungle Hunt, Space Panic, Venture, Zaxxon

There will also be a Nintendo 64 with cartridges of Golden Eye, Mario Kart, Pokémon Snap, and Star Wars Pod Racing to try out.

We are working on selecting some other consoles to put out. So expect more.

Convention Update

A few updates to go over.

  1. I have not been able to gather as many people to bring games and set-up. If I had gone with the original plan space layout we would have ended up with a lot of open unused space. So I have chosen to cut back on how much of the convention center we will be using. We still have games to play. We will have video game free play, tournaments, Paint & Take, pinball, cosplay contest, plenty of panels with guests, charity auction, hang out space to meet fellow games, and more. I still feel their is still value to coming. I mean the best part of a convention is just meeting other fans.
    Though cause there will not be as much as I hoped, I am not going to charge on site fee of $15. It will be $10.
  2. The schedule is coming along. I am still waiting for some groups to submit their games.
  3. Ticketing for events is now on. You can sign up for events in the schedule if you have pre-registered.
  4. Check under the Headers of the page to see more info about what will be at the con.
  5. I will make posts with information about the various things around the convention over this week so everyone knows what is going on.
  6. Just so you now, the Video Game Supporter is leading in sales.

More Charity Auction Items

More items that have been gathered to be auctioned off for the West Virginia chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP WV).

The auction will be at 3:30pm in Panel Room 1.

The AFSP will be taking part in State Capitol Day Wednesday February 15th. Each year, State Capitol Day events bring advocates together with state and local public officials to share information and urge that suicide prevention be made a priority. Advocates have the opportunity to meet with their legislators and speak about legislative and policy issues that need support. Because of these personal connections between advocates and lawmakers, state bills have been enacted that now ban the practice of conversion therapy, require suicide prevention policies and personnel training in K-12 schools, increase suicide prevention on college and university campuses, require insurance plans to treat mental health and physical health equally, and create statewide suicide prevention offices and task forces.

DualCon at Beckley Gaming Expo

DualCon will be setting up at the Beckley Gaming Expo this Saturday July 30th from noon to 8pm at the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center in Beckley.

They will have tournaments for Super Smash Bros, Guitar Hero III, Rocket League, Mario Kart 8, Call of Duty, Duck Hunt, Mortal Kombat 11, Dig Dug and Space Invaders on arcade machines, and a pinball tournament. Plus Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Magic: the Gathering tournaments.

There will also be D&D and Marvel Multiverse RPG demos.

They have also created their own Live Action Mario Kart Speedway for everyone to try.

They will have Free Play for console games, arcade machines, and pinball machines plus tables for open table top play.

There will be several vendors and exhibitors like us. We have been given plenty of room to set up video games and board games. Maybe even some real simple RPG.
